Heather Hanson's Diary 12/01/09

 I know....it has been a long time since I have been on here.  When you have a job that mentally and physically exhausts you, you tend to do nothing.  Especially when that job entails you to talk to people all day and stare at a computer, you then REALLY don't want to do anything!  I can say the job is going OK, but a few things came up since then.

They have dropped everyone's hours because the travel industry slows down at this time of the year.  I find it strange because you hear of people traveling all over to visit family or get away from everyone or they just don't celebrate the holidays and want to go where it's warm and where they are not freezing their body parts off.  If i were able to I would buy a winter home in the Bahamas.  I hate snow! And I know, I live in an area where the snow falls like the rain in Seattle does in the winter.  I lived in Seattle for 12 years and i welcome the rain more than I welcome snow.  It's not hard to drive in and everyone knows how to drive in it!  Not to mention, your heating bill does not rise to the sky when rain falls!  Plus i like how it smells after it rains.

Another one is that they dropped everyone's pay rate, which does not help me out at all!  The worse is that they do not own up to it and say that they are dropping it.  They have now called it a 'system where you have the opportunity to make more money' which is a crock of crap because they rate you off of how many people you make reservations for and how long you are on the phone with them which changes daily, and if you get up in their 'area' of what is good then you make more per minute....that's right, MINUTE.   So now more hourly wage, I have to try and make people make reservations with me while trying to keep the conversation short with them, which is impossible when you have an older person or another person who wants to tell you their whole life's story on why they cannot have decent bowel movements.  a friend of mine got one the other day about a woman telling her that the reason why she is checking into the hotel is because she met someone online and she is having a 'romantic rendevous' with them and she hasn't met him yet!  TMI!!!!

Other than those few things and getting the crabby assholes who think they are better than you, the job is OK.  I am thankful that I have it, don't get me wrong!  It could be worse.  For now I will just stick to listening to people try and pull every type of discount they can out of their asses and still think about telling them, 'You do realize I can get a better discount than you ever will.  and so can my dogs!'
